Devil Tree #1
Back in the 1970s, a series of bizarre incidents occurred at what has since been known as "The Devil Tree." Beneath this ancient denizen, evil was wrought by a sick serial killer, calling upon forces most evil and dark. People were hung there ... and bodies buried there ... exhumed by the police. Overcome by superstition, some tried to cut down the tree, to no avail. Since then, it has stood in a remote section of a local park --- left to its own devices --- quiet in its eerie repose.
Published by Blood Moon Comics, writer Keith Rommel, artist Wolfgang Schwant and colorist Kristal Sayers invite you to a dark and treacherous tale in the first issue of "The Devil Tree." A horror comic book tale overflowing with supernatural urban Legend vibes and slasher sensibilities.
Clocking in at an expansive 38 pages, The Devil Tree Issue 1 is an impressive beginning to a horror tale that'll leave you guessing who or what the killer is. From the turn of the first page there's a feeling of morbid fascination which quickly morphs into the murders of a family at the hands of one of their own. All at the behest of this demonic tree. At least, that's what it seems.
Writer Keith Rommel crafts a curious tale. One that sinks into the dark regions of the human psyche. His dialogue crafts a treacherous tale that twists and turns but stays on the path towards this tree that is both deceptive and malevolent. A malevolence amplified by the artwork of Wolfgang Schwandt. An art style nostalgic of early Dynamite Entertainment comics, and yet, leaves you with a chill factor - thanks to Kristal Sayers' coloring at play.
The Devil Tree is a comic book for fans of horror films like Devil's Tree and The Wretched.
