A Flag to Fly Issue #1

A Flag to Fly #1 of 6 is a 22-page comedic grand fantasy tale of family, leadership and the hard road to becoming a person you can believe in.
On the Isle of Solomon, the land is in need of a savior in these feudal times! The Crimson King, in his Crimson Keep, with his Crimson Guard, has slowly started to run amok on his people after years of fierce battle and loss. Now his Knight Commander, Bach, has reached their breaking point in carrying out the king's bizarre orders. Now Bach rides to Tidalstead in hopes of their long-life friend, Lïong Ren, joining their cause as the commander in the coming war to protect the people when everything goes medieval in A Flag To Fly #1: Flags of Our Fathers!

Writer C. Solis and artist Lane Lloyd invite you into the world of comedy of errors medieval story in the first issue of “A Flag to Fly.” A comic book which has comedic beats akin to comedy shows of yesteryear like Fawlty Towers or Monty Python’s Flying Circus but with the added bizarre-ity of Plebs.

C. Solis has created a story in which the heir to the throne wants to be more of a wizard and less of a warrior. Add in the threat of the dreaded Crimson Army and you’ve got the story of a misunderstood son trying to impress his overachieving father.

Lane Lloyd’s artwork is fun, easily digestible, cartoony and the pastel-like coloration of every panel adds to the theme of a medieval story. Due to it feeling old and weathered while the art style is modern, warm and inviting.

“A Flag to Fly” is a comic book for fans of stories that poke fun at the medieval and dark ages. Arguably, a great addition to the collection of anyone who enjoys Robin Hood: Men In Tights because this comic book issue feels like ‘what if Mel Brooks was a cartoonist and what would his comic books look like?’ Well, click the link to read to find out.
