article AI Generated and assisted comic books

To anyone who intends to use AI for making their comics, so long and thanks for all those twisted fish

In his most famous speech, the legendary singer and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte said -

“...we believe that artists have a valuable function in any society,” he said, “since it is the artists who reveal society to itself....” He added that “we also know that any society which ceases to respect the human aspirations of all its citizens, courts political chaos and artistic sterility....”

In its current form, AI Generated art is quite the opposite of that. The fact that companies, research groups, people working on it and even people using it consciously know that the whole basis of their “creation” is outright theft and destroys a very real person's livelihood goes against the very foundations of what we're building. While we don't allow or have any AI-generated and assisted books at the moment on the platform, we still want to make sure we don't have any in the future. We want art to be created by humans, as flawed as it may be. In that spirit, here are our new content guidelines -

Artificial intelligence (AI) content (text, images, or translations)

We require you to self censor AI-generated content (text, images, or translations) when you publish a new book or make edits to and republish an existing book at Comix.one. AI-generated images include cover and interior images and artwork. We do not allow any of that on our platform. Comix.one reserves the right to un-publish or take down any AI content on the website without any prior notice. We will rely on our community to help us sort out the content. Comix.one also reserves the right to off-board anyone who repeatedly breaks the content guidelines.

So, to anyone who intends to use AI for making their comics, so long and thanks for all those twisted fish.
